Airport ownership and operation

Most of the world’s airports are in the possession of local , regional or national government bodies who rent the airport to private firms, which manage the operation of airport. For instance , British airport authority , which originally run eight of nations major commercial airports , have the state in the united kingdom . Then , the state was privatized in 1980s. After that , it was taken over by the Spanish constium, which has been deprived and made smaller to run just five of them .Beside, Germany’s Frankfurt airport is operated by the quasi-private firm fraport while indian Gandhi international airport, rajiu Gandhi international airport are managed by GMR group with joint venture in indianbengaluru international airport and chine shivaji international airport are managed by  GVK group. Also , the rest of India’s airports are controlled by the airports authority of india but commercial airports are generally managed by government entrities or post authorities in the united states . For examples , los angeles world airports authority that control a lot of airports in the much bigger los angeles area which is inclusive of los angeles international airport on the other hand in Canada the federal authority transport Canada isolated itself and the furthest airports in 1999-2000, but now most airports are owned and managed by individual legal authorities in canada. Also , most US airports still rent part of their facilities or all of them to outside companies , which run functions such as management and parking.
Furthermore , although all commercial airports landing fields are certified by the faa under the code of federal regulations title  14 part 139 “ certification of commercial service airports ", they are maintained by the local airport under the regulatory authority of the faa in us airports.
In spite of the unwillingness to privatize airports in the us , the government had contractor.

  1. This days there are so many airports under (GOCO) government owned company and the facilites could be lease out privte companys some of them like the US and Canada are under the the government control model are two types terminals for the airport centerlized and decentralize. The decenteralized are airports with more then one terminal and different facilities , and the centralized airports are airports with only one terminal. I prefer the decentralized airports beacuse it has a different facilities and many terminals for passengers compared to centralized wich is very noise and crowded. the decentralized provide more comfortable for Vip who wants extra comfort and better service.

  2. I do not know much out this system. When thinking with governments point of view, renting airports for long term is profitable because they do not spend money on building them. What they earn is just taxes. In todays world governments work with taxes so it must be good. Operators point of view is that they tell the government that they think they would have a number of passengers in a year. When they get that number and more they have the money but when they don't government gives the money that they lost. So it is good for operator as well.

  3. I think, Airport operation is the most significant topic of airports management. Some government manage their countries' airports, some goventment transfer to the privated company for managing these airports. In aviation industry, manufacturing costs are so huge amount of money. Logical way of building and managing an airport is Build-Operate-Transfer Model like in our Country. In this model, the company of aviaion management build the airport from own material source. Then company operate the airport in all way and after a time, the airport is transferred to the government. I think this model is one of the logical method in the world.
